Park Harrisburg Partners with Metropolis to Launch Seamless Drive-In, Drive-Out Parking Across All Public Facilities.

Beginning in December, Harrisburg Drivers Can Expect a Smarter, Simpler Parking Experience at All 12 City-Owned Locations.

(HARRISBURG, PA – December 8, 2025) – Today, Park Harrisburg, the organization overseeing public parking across the city, announced the deployment of new AI-powered parking technology in partnership with Metropolis, the leader in checkout-free payments. Installation is already underway across all 12 Park Harrisburg facilities and will continue throughout December, replacing aging equipment with modern technology that allows both monthly and daily parkers to simply drive in and drive out.

Metropolis’ platform leverages computer vision and license plate recognition to link a member’s vehicle to their account with a credit card on file, eliminating the need for tickets, cash, or stopping at a kiosk. With over 750,000 existing Metropolis members across Pennsylvania and the Maryland area, many local drivers will experience immediate, seamless access at launch.

“This upgrade represents a meaningful step forward for Park Harrisburg,” said John Gass, Park Harrisburg spokesperson. “We’re bringing our parking infrastructure into the future, making it more convenient for parkers.”

To prepare for launch, QR code signage will be placed throughout every parking facility, allowing new users to quickly sign up with just a phone number, vehicle details, and a credit card. On-site staff will also be available at peak hours to assist with onboarding. The platform offers 24/7 support via a dedicated phone line posted at all exits.

What Drivers Can Expect:

  • Easy Sign-up On-site: QR Codes across all facilities guide drivers through fast and secure enrollment.
  • Ongoing Support: Peak-hour staff and 24/7. phone support will assist users during and after the transition.
  • Business Program Integration: The new system makes it easier to implement and manage parking validations and custom programs with local businesses.
  • Gate Retention: All locations will retain existing gate infrastructure. Payment will still be required upon exit, with a nominal consumer transaction fee applied to all parking sessions as part of the new technology package.

This system replaces more than a decade-old parking infrastructure. In choosing Metropolis, Park Harrisburg is not just upgrading technology, but adopting a future-ready platform built to scale with the city’s needs.

“At Metropolis, we’re focused on removing everyday friction for drivers,” said Alex Israel, CEO and co-founder of Metropolis. “This deployment with Park Harrisburg reflects our broader mission to build an intelligent layer across the physical world—starting with parking and extending into every aspect of the urban experience.”
